I was listening to my headphones earlier, and realised it was Tuesday, so decided to take a few from what I was listening to and add them up here.
New Model Army - 51st State
This one always reminds me of being in my teens, and walking to school. iPods were one of the best inventions ever made.
I had a bunch of bands I listened to back then, New Model Army was one of them. I had only a handful of songs I'd downloaded from LimeWire. Back then, I wasn't really able to get albums, so a few random songs were the best you could hope for.
There were many songs I got from there which had failed half way through, and would cut early, and there are a few songs I listen to even know where I still expect for it to abruptly stop.
Also, the other problem was downloading songs with the wrong name, and sometimes the wrong band completely. It sucked when you found a song you liked, only to never be able to find it again due to the mismatched name/ artist. Or, the dreaded Song 1 - Unknown Artist. Funny enough, I had a lot of Unknown Artists back then, but would still be able to navigate the list of numerous Song (numbers), thank got that doesn't really happen anymore.
Anyway, back the band. Seeing New Model Army live last year was amazing, and I was delighted. They sounded just as good, if not better than they do on their recordings.
I'd like to see them in a smaller venue though, because obviously at a festival it's kind of a different atmosphere.
Anti Heroes - Fuck Hollywood
This is one of my favourite songs by these guys, and I don't think truer lyrics have ever been spoken in a song before.
The songs is way more relevant today than it was when it initially released, because at least back then movies were actually have decent, rather than the over produced shite coming out of it now, reeking of "the message" told to us by absolute hypocritical weirdos who do more bad than good in their day to day lives, but want to talk down and preach to us from their ivory towers... Fuck Hollywood, because it made me sick, it's like sticking my head in a bucket of shit!
All attitude. Love it.
They're a good band, this song is off the album American Pie, a decent enough album with a handful of decent songs, but this one stands leagues above the rest.
That's Right/ Don't Thread on Me, is my favourite of their albums though, and I think it's a split of two EPs combined to make it one LP. I've been on the hunt for either of these two albums on CD, or even Vinyl... even though I don't actually own a record player. I have a look through most record shops I go in, but never come across them.
I suppose I could get them online, but where's the fun in that?
I'm An Anti Hero - Anti Heroes
This song is really good, and another of my favourites of theirs, but I don't actually know what album this is from.
It's a cover/ re-write of the Screwdriver song Anti-Social, but this one is a much better song, and version in general. The singers voice in the other one is annoying, and the music doesn't have half the umph of this one.
