On Sunday morning around 8am I had two choices, laze around for a bit or go for a run. Last Sunday I chose to laze around, and ended up feeling lazy all week. So today, I choose to start on the right foot. I water my little lime tree, pictured above, and head out the door.
I'd prepared a new playlist for the run, all around 180 beats per minute. I first tried creating a custom playlist for my last run and it worked great. Running in sync to the beat of a song just feels awesome. It feels like playing the drums when my feet hit the pavement and motivates me to keep moving at a steady pace.
The above stats come from the Apple fitness and Strava apps. I was happy to see I completed the 5k about 2 minutes faster than I did on Thursday and my average pace and cadence both improved. My goal is to keep my heart rate in Zone 2, between 123-153 bpm and I actually was at only 121bpm for a period so can try to push a little harder on my next run.
I write with tired but happy fingers and can report a total of over 14,700 steps today. Starting the week with good habits with an aim to continue. Have a great day and if you have any suggestions for good songs to run to, let me know in the comments.
