We are in the middle of winter right now.
Nature sleeps while waiting for spring to come.
There are, though, some plant species, like the tree in the following photo, that simply refuse to sleep.
I hope that, in the aftermath of the recent, devastating, wildfires in California, examples of life refusing to give up and surrender, like this evergreen pine tree, can become a symbol for Californians, and give them the courage and strength to claim their lives back.
