if you do go to ophthalmologists then there will be a fee. but i since i'm only checking the "grade", i guess the machines in the shops will be fine
The Mrs is a licensed optician and she said thisβ¦.. based upon your comment, I would say that they are taking a measurement, using a device called an auto refractor. The only problem with that is that there are people like myself that when you use an auto refractor, the prescription is completely opposite of what it really needs to be. I hope that they do several tests with that with you before determining your glasses prescription.β

thanks for the info. for the test they did, i tried it first with a manually operated machine. and then they had me use an automatic machine which showed different things asking which one is clearer. and then some one talked to me asking for things and had me do the same machine with simpler things.
oh well, at least the headache is gone for the meantime.
