Today was like every other day for a teacher: chaotic in the classroom, early mornings, and a dash of unanticipated drama.
The endurance of my soul and the beauty of the daybreak gave me comfort, despite the difficulties.
A Sleepless Night and a Busy Morning
The night before had left me restless.
I had set my alarm for 6:35 AM, but I had woken up an hour sooner.
I gave up on sleep and opted to start my day after turning over and over.
I made it through my morning ritual and headed to school in spite of my lack of sleep.
The calm of an empty classroom before the children arrived was something I was thankful for.
A Stunning Dawn and a Sorrowful Flashback
I saw an incredible dawn on my way to school.
My mood got a much-needed lift from the vivid colors that decorated the sky.
Unfortunately, a painful recollection of my previous fall quickly eclipsed the beauty of the morning.
My left forearm was still sore from the bruising, and my kids' inquisitive looks and prodding didn't make it better.
A Year Later: Post Thrombosis Syndrome
During my lunch break, I make a quick visit to the hospital.
My French hospital adventure has now been a year ago.
Being hospitalised due to the two blood clots in my leg (thrombosis) and pulmonary embolism.
For now, I will have to come for check-ups every year to continue monitoring my progress.
Unfortunately, I was told today that my symptoms that I still have are PTS (Post Thrombosis Syndrome).
So whether my symptoms will disappear completely remains to be seen but I have to seriously consider that they will be chronic.
While this means my symptoms may be chronic, I'm determined to remain positive and continue working towards healing.
A Cycling Adventure and a Fond Farewell
To help with my recovery, I decided to cycle back to school in the afternoon.
The sunny weather made it the perfect opportunity for a bike ride.
As I finished my workday, I gave a tiny bag of chips to the kids at school as a farewell.
Because "Oh Chips" is one of my favorite idioms for when things don't go as expected.
I will miss this school and the amazing memories I have created there.
Looking Forward to a New Chapter
And yes I know it's a cliché, but all good things must come to an end, and I'm hoping to begin a wonderful new chapter next week.
Wishing you all the best in life and much health.
