I decided to put off my typical Wednesday workout on behalf of going into town this morning.
A promise to my mom took priority – she had a shopping list a mile long, and new clothes were at the top.
Since Dad doesn't enjoy shopping (and is still recuperating from a recent surgery), I gladly offered to help.
The turn of events?
Not only was our destination a town I cherished (you'll see why in a moment), but it was also one of my favorite go-to shopping place.
But Mom had a secret motive, it appeared.
A hardware shop is the first place to go.
A furniture store follows!
As it happens, they are remodeling the living room, and Mom is really interested in some new furnishings.
Considering their different spending habits (one is a spender, the other is a saver), I'm interested to see how she tells Dad the news.
Our final stop was the clothing stores after a delectable lunch of a sandwich made with chicken, arugula, and egg, along with a cool iced coffee.
I watched for sales as Mom looked about.
Scoring good deals on clothes gives me a thrill, something I probably inherited from Dad.
Nice clothes are something we both value, but spending a fortune isn't necessary.
There was a win-win today!
I scored a great deal on six shirts and some stylish sunglasses.
Mom took an amazing shopping bag with her as well.
My step count increased dramatically—it even surpassed my daily norm.
I was struggling to completely avoid going to the gym, though.
I arrived at 7 p.m., prepared to start working out.
I've only been working out for a few weeks, so this is my current regimen—keep in mind, it's for beginners.
I made sure to avoid overdoing it by focusing on progressively strengthening my knee and "thrombosis leg" while incorporating some leg workouts.
It's working, which is wonderful news!
Even though everything isn't yet doable, my knee feels substantially stronger.
I may be moving to a new training program as of next Friday.
My instructor hasn't finalized it yet, but we'll discuss it then. I can't wait to see what it contains!
The gym was packed, and no surprise, all men.
No worries there – I'm here to focus on myself.
Even if there were dancing monkeys I wouldn't notice.
I lose myself in my workout and ignore the outside world.
I warmed up on the elliptical before faithfully finishing every exercise on my program.
An hour had passed and I noticed just then that the gym was deserted by the time I reached the last one (pectoral fly).
My mouth dropped as I checked my activity tracker and saw 14,604 steps!
It was the ideal way to cap off an amazing day.
Wishing you all the best in life and much health.
