Hey Actifitters,
Yesterday was race day, the Detroit half marathon! That means a very early wake-up up time, earlier than I am usually in bed on a Saturday! So after barely an hour of sleep, the last thing I wanted to do was running. But I'm glad I got up, the weather was perfect and I had a pretty good run, 1hour and 50 minutes is not impressive for serious runners, but it was better than what I hoped. I don't have any photos unfortunately because I never bring my phone on a run, but I will have all the details in my Exhaust post, hopefully sometimes this week. With over 25k steps before 9am, that was a strong start of the day! I needed a nap when I got back home! After a couple hours of deserved sleep, we tried to have a normal day. First we hung out in the yard of course. It seems Le Chat also didn't get much sleep the night before. So deeply asleep!
Kaia on the other hand just wanted to patrol the yard as usual
Even with all these leaves on the ground, we still have lots of beautiful fall colors.
The day was going a bit slower than usual, but I thought we could at least hit the small forest behind the front yard. It's just starting to turn yellow at its entrance.
Kaia didn't run the half marathon but she was limping a bit when we started. After a bit of exploration, she seemed much better. I will have to check though, maybe that's what's been bothering her for a long time.
Since she wasn't limping anymore, we added a few loops in the neighborhood, to check out the fall colors progression of course.
It's also a good chance to meet squirrels preparing for the winter. At first, this one didn't feel safe eating its acorn. But we stayed still for a few seconds, that was sufficient. It was probably hungry! These other two didn't even care about us.
On the way back, I thought this angle on our small forest was pretty cool, especially with the sun piercing through the leaves.
To finish the afternoon, a couple espressos on the deck were a must.
None of this seemed to faze Le Chat one bit, she didn't move at all from her spot on the dog bed.
A bit later, I picked up a friend at the airport. On the way there, there's a long stretch looking West, and it was just after sunset. So supposedly the best time and direction to see the infamous comet. Well, nothing! I give up...
Well, it was obviously a very active day. It's been a while since I reached over 40k steps. I'm quite happy with my time for the race and we had a good walk in the afternoon, overall a great day. Let's just hope I'm not too sore the next few days!
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
