Hey Actifitters,
Yesterday I felt a bit tired and I thought about doing the same thing Le Chat did almost all day, nothing!
But I have the best reason to get off my ass and out the door: Kaia needs her long walk! So just before the sun disappeared, we started our daily walk behind the front yard.
We knew Le Chat was inside, so no need to wait for her to join, we could just go deeper in the small forest, with Kaia following every scent she could find.
We even found a couple of decent views on the sunset. Not as good as the golf course obviously but we didn't have enough time to find better.
We tried to go through the hole in the wall, but it was too high for Kaia. She's just tall enough to see what's behind, but climbing there would be extremely difficult.
Next step was of course to walk to our usual forest, where the sunset colors were still great behind the trees.
Like I mentioned yesterday, it's weird to find so much ice when the temperature was so warm just a couple days ago.
But for sure we prefer the icy crunch under foot, to the muddy mess it becomes when it all melts.
When we made it to the forest center, where all the trees broke down during the storms last year, Kaia made me proud. With just one command, she jumped on this tree stump. She's very different from Genepi, but also so smart!
We found more evidence of why some of the trees were so easy to break.
But don't ask me why this was hanging from that branch, or why it was there in the first place...
After a while, we made our usual loop around the forest edge. Beautiful colors again.
After a little bit more walking in the dark forest, we made one last loop in the neighborhood. I was surprised that at almost 8pm, so much colors were still lingering in the sky.
In the end, it was a pretty good walk. It's good Kaia forced to get out and walk! Like I said, perfect motivation!
This post is getting long again, but I want to conclude February with a little data. I use several apps and tools to record my mileage, my steps, and many other data that I'll probably never use. But this one shows me the total distance and duration I walk every month with Kaia. 35 hours, and 164 km in February! Note that's only the long walks with Kaia, it doesn't include the shorter walks, and all the training and playing sessions in the yard. Some people might say it's a lot of wasted time, I say it's time well spent! We love our long walks!
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
