Today I started something different. I'm doing natural diaphragmatic/deep/belly breathing sessions, combined with a mindful relaxation specifically in the face, around the eyes, the nose, the lips and jaw, the neck, back, chest, and belly.
It's amazing how much one can realize and learn in just one short session. I've certainly been blind to how much of a habit of tensing these areas I have in everyday life.
I relaxed parts of my face with a hot water bottle, and the intense tension especially around the eyes and cheeks and chewing muscles was instantly obvious.
I also realized that I have a habit of tensing up slightly more between each inhale and exhale. I breathed like I would in a "follow/welcome the breath" session, allowing the breath to flow naturally, and observed these tensing moments, and experimented with relaxing instead.
I also mentally anointed myself with warmth and light and stuff.
Wanting to improve singing, through natural breathing and releasing tension, has been an invitation for me to explore this embodiment stuff. I'm grateful.
