I woke this morning to a dry scene and broken cloud, so it looked very promising for a ride! I decided to visit several town parks, large and small. The signs of spring were evident everywhere, including a patch of snowdrops, which are the first I have seen this spring.
So, first up was Bewbush Water Gardens. A short ride out to this smallish park, which is within the town boundaries. It has a small lake too, popular with wild birds.
The conditions were very damp after the recent rain but quite bright too with occasional sunshine. Next up, Buchan Park. A short ride and across a footbridge.
This park is actually part of a large woodland area adjacent to a golf course. It has two large lakes and is very popular with dog owners too. There is a cafe and shop at the entrance car park.
On the way to the next park I passed the K2 sports centre which is next to Tilgate Park. Tilgate is the largest park we have, extending across a large area of pine forest. It is a public park and also incorporates a golf course as well.
Next, I opted to take the Worth Way path for a short distance. The going was quite wet, and I was getting plastered with mud! But i was loving it! 😁
After turning back for the return leg, taking a route through a strange tunnel under the main line railway. It is big enough for cars to pass but is only used as a footpath.
This route took me past another small park called Waterlea Meadows. From previous experience, I did not attempt to ride through because it gets flooded in winter months.
This ride was very satisfying, although I got very dirty, and my bike needed a good wash down, it was thoroughly enjoyable. 😀
