In the late afternoon today, I took a nice walk in Tilgate Park. The conditions were perfect. At about 28°C it felt marvellous.
Most of the flowering plants here are now finished, but there are still some in wonderful bloom, such as hydrangeas.
I came across a patch of wild flowers, planted by the ground staff here. Mainly poppy type flowers but very striking in the sunshine.
There are three lakes here. The first one on our route today was Titmus Lake. On one side there is a viewing platform as part of the nature centre here.
The two main lakes are separated by a low dam with spillway. Silt lake spilling into Tilgate Lake. A much larger area of water and with good views.
We were hoping to find the Lakeside Cafe open but it was getting late by then, so we were disappointed 😞.
A final view of the main lake before heading back. The park is home to a restaurant and bar which looked quite busy. I can fully understand that as the evening was feeling so warm.
