Also, in Vinland Saga—for those who don't know, it's an anime—there's an episode where Askeladd, the leader of the mercenary Vikings, says he hates the Vikings because they are simple-minded, and there's nothing beautiful about them. Yet Bjorn, a Viking warrior and Askeladd's right-hand man, looks up to him as a brother and friend.

Bjorn is gravely injured in his last battle, and in his final days, knowing he is going to die, he wants to die in battle to reach Valhalla (the Viking heaven). So, he asks Askeladd to duel him so he can die a warrior. During the duel, Askeladd stabs him, but you can see Askeladd's face change. He says, 'Sorry, I missed the vital organs,' because he wanted Bjorn to have a swift, painless death.
Bjorn's final words are heartbreaking. He says to Askeladd, 'I know you hate the Vikings, but I want to be your friend.' Askeladd replies, 'Yes, you're my friend.' Then Bjorn dies from the wound.
Bloody hell, I can't believe an anime can be this sad. That scene was intense. Askeladd, a ruthless leader with no friends, just using his intelligence to get men to fight for him, discovers that, in the end, he had a true friend and brother all along."
