During my walk today, I concentrated on trying to get some good pictures of various insects that I came across.
My identifications here have to come with a huge warning as I was only using Google lens to find out what they are. The first picture is, I believe, an onion fly who was certainly enjoying himself of the flowers of a giant Hogweed plant.
The second blue Damsel fly is a beautiful demoiselle (Calopteryx virgo). There were quite a few of these flying around, but there is no way I can take photos of them until they land and are still for a while.
Finally, the last two pictures are of a type of dagger fly (Empis livida) which were all over the purple thistle like flowers.
All pictures were taken on my Canon PowerShot SX720 and edited in the snapseed app.
I didn't make a post yesterday as I was in hospital to have a biopsy taken from my throat under general anaesthetic. I arrived early in the morning and waited all day and was eventually asked to get ready and given some pre-meds at about 6pm. Unfortunately, about 20 minutes later, the surgeon came to see me and apologised that my operation had to be cancelled. Very frustrating!
I now need to wait for a new appointment. I was assured it will be soon.
Luckily, my employer is very understanding and suggested I take today off anyway as arrangements to cover my shifts had already been made.
Thank you for reading, and I'll be back tomorrow.
