Today I set out to walk along the traintracks before lunchtime to see how the army of fire ants and dragons get the binders back under the rails.
Yesterday I doubted this little yellow dragon was there to lift the rails, I thought it was just guiding the alignment. But alas, I was quite wrong!
It's a bit hard to see in the picture above, but I cropped it below to show how it is in fact this tiny one, mounted by one of the fire ants, that's doing the heavy lifting.
The bigger dragon then rolls up and precisely places some binders into the gap with its quintuple extending steel claws. The fireants just stand around to give some micro directions.
Makes me feel a bit like a little boy to marvel at all this mighty machinery. It is quite fascinating to see with how much finesse they are relaying the entire tracks within just a matter of days, though.
In the afternoon I took a short walk into the forest to escape the heat and crossed paths with another mysterious creature.
It's not a snake. It's a legless lizard. I'm not entirely sure what ultimately makes the distinction, but it's not a snake, it's a harmless little lizard that has lost its legs somewhere in the thicket of evolution.
In the evening I returned to the traintracks to balance along one of its rails. Made it all the way in one direction, probably half a mile, before my shoulders gave up.
Tip-toe-ing along the rail is surprisingly exhausting for the shoulder, just because you constantly shift your arms around slightly to keep the balance... wow... are we actually talking exercise related content in this post... naaah... that's enough of that.
You didn't think I forgot the sunset, did you?
Thanks for your time!
