The sweetest birthday song

in Q Inspired-by-Music7 months ago

Greetings!

I've heard so many birthday songs, and I've heard a lot of remixes and covers of the popular melancholic "Happy Birthday to You... How Old Are You Now?" but nothing has piqued my interest as much as Sunny Nneji's song with the same title, "Happy Birthday."

Oh yeah, it was my birthday yesterday. I didn't announce it to anyone for some reasons, and a friend has been dragging me since she found out why I didn't tell her. So sorry for that if you're reading this 🤲

Before now, I used to make a lot of noise on my birthdays. I would conduct different giveaways in different groups, especially groups of close friends. I did that just to catch fun and not expect anything in return. But for this birthday(which was yesterday, 17th May), I didn't have the strength at all, so I decided to keep quiet and let only the people who knew the date to do all the wishings.

Despite the low-key celebration, I still had fun because I had people coming to sing for me, and most of them sang the deep lyrics of this song by Sunny Nneji.
Ohhh! It was only @humbe who did a different one, and I wasn't surprised because she is not familiar with the song; otherwise, she would have followed suit. She did well though, it's just that there were many 'of keys' Lol😂
Hey, I didn't directly tell Humbe at the birthday; she appeared after four years at the exact time when everywhere was lively, and she caught the flow.

This song has very simple lyrics woven in rhythm:

🎶"Happy, happy birthday, that is all I can say"
🎶"I wish you many, many happy returns."

Simple, isn't it? Even though the chorus looks so simple and can be stretched to any tone, the beat of the music makes it a danceable one, where the celebrant is supposed to be in the spotlight, rocking the dance steps.

🎶"Throw your hands in the air"
🎶"Wave them like you don't care"
🎶"Raise up your voice and make some noise."

This part is so sweet. This day happens once a year in someone's life, and it should be totally dedicated to that person. He or she has the right to make all the noise; in fact, the person has the right to block the road because it's their birthday.

The song didn't end there. The latter part of it featured a roll call of all the people wishing the celebrant well, all the friends, families, and even enemies too. The lyrics took time to mention names, just the way I should be mentioning all my friends and enemies here, but if I did that, this article would exceed 5000 words.

I know there are many birthday songs out there, but this one freaks me out the most. You may say it's because I don't love new songs, and that's why I went for this one. Well, you may be right. I love this song that's 13 years old and still ear-tickling whenever it's played today. A very evergreen song.

Thanks for reading.
