Prophecy/ A Spark of Rebellion

Zun-Kulla

The planet called Zun-Kulla is known infamously throughout Free Space, as are the Zun-Kullen's, who are known to be closed off, untrusting, hot-headed, superstitious, and treacherous.

They take extreme pride in their world and as a whole, their society is built up of many clans, who often challenge each other in order to extend their own clan's borders or win rights to natural resources that one clan my possess.

Their history is a brutal one, and to them, the main thing they loved was fighting, and weeding the strong from the weak - among the many territories.

Zun-Kullen's go to war with a light mind. They believe that there are two worlds. Zun is the living world, where they are now, and the word Zun in their language means lifeforce, or living.

Xuim is the other world, the place where the living go to reflect on life, the actions taken in their last life, and learn so they can come back even stronger.

Death is seen as a failed attempt and does not mean the end for them, which helps their warriors charge into battle with unparalleled fervor and fearlessness. However, throughout Free Space, they're no considered the greatest warriors, due to their lack of tactics; adopting a more head-first approach to every conflict they find themselves in.

The Word of The ZuXuim

The ZuXuim is held in extremely high regard, and it is centuries before a Zun-Kullen is granted that title. They are said to see between worlds, and through the invisible barrier which separates the two.

The last ZuXuim, referred to as "The Smiling ZuXuim" lived over 300 years ago and pondered time and the fact that when in the sacred trance he was able to see all time and all space. The future, the past, and the present, which lived on separate plains.

In his vision of the future, he foresaw the coming of the universe. People from elsewhere. He warned not to be fearful, and instead embrace the new neighbours, for they would give access to far vaster lands.

Then, the ZuXuim let out a bone-curdling scream, and shook violently on the ground. "Burning! It's all burning!" He shouted as he tried to pat out the flames.

Blood trickled from his nose, and with his final breath, he warned of a second neighbour, who were unified, and who would absorb all who live in the Galaxy unless they were to unite as one to fend off the onslaught and defend themselves. "Be ready." Was his final word before his passing.

The words were heeded, and only 67 years after his death the Free Space Alliance reached out to the Zun-Kullen's who gladly welcomed them, and instantly joined the FSA.

Many years after that, The Confederation's arrival reminded the Zun-Kullen's of The Smiling ZuXuim's prophecy, and that war in defense of their homeland was an act of defiance that no one expected, mainly due to the fact that most of the clans of Zun-Kulla rallied together beneath the banner of their homeworld, and as one, and using their fearless tactics, they were able to win a major victory before their world burned.

I like these guys already. 😄 Their metaphysical beliefs in two worlds are interesting. These spiritual ideas could also be a source of conflict between groups, I imagine.

I've written a fair bit of world-building on these guys, and the different groups of their world. I really want to tweak and re-work a few aspects though. But, yeah, their beliefs would definitely lead to some more conflict.
