RE: The Marauders (World Building Notes)

Nice ! I might have to steal the gravity wells idea 😁

Razara-jaka is a brilliant character idea - no one knows if he's real or not, but even if he's just a legend he's the most terrifying person someone could meet. It's a "Dread Pirate Roberts" vibe (and despite what Princess Bride tells us, there really was an actual historical Roberts !)

Sort:

Dread Pirate Roberts does space! A great idea.

I love the idea of the unreliable narrator, or the use of rumors and stories within a world to elude to larger events in the background of the narrative.

I don't know where I heard of gravity wells, but I think it was in some sort of game, or show. Interesting concept though, especially being used in the middle of an asteroid field.

Read about some PIMP Shit or Look for the PIMP District

It's my "go to" when I'm playing D&D and the players spot an inconsistency in the worldbuilding. "Oh, you must have heard it from someone who was misinformed, after all it's a long way away and you know how it is with rumours...."

Adding gravity wells to an asteroid belt is a hugely entertaining idea. As well as messing up enemy ships, it could make for an awesome high-stakes sporting event. You could have one-man racing ships doing crazy slalom moves to try to be first around a circuit or course, with a huge prize pot to the winner (or survivor...) 😁
