Hi there! Welcome back to my post! I hope that you are doing great. In my latest posts, I discussed attending a BLS course at Muscat. In the following two days, I had a 2-day long ACLS course. In this post, I shared some photographs of my trip there!
ACLS stands for Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support! Similar to BLS (Basic Life Support), it's also conducted by AHA (American Heart Association). Every doctor must have a valid ACLS certificate to work in Oman. Again, a certificate is valid for 2 years only! Hence, we need to attend this course every two years! It costs 80 OMR! A good business.
To attend the ACLS course, we must have a valid BLS course!! No escape from the AHA! So, after completing the BLS course, I chose to attend the ACLS course for the next two days! As a result, I traveled back and forth between my home and Muscat in 3 consecutive days!
For the ACLS course, we (I went by company car; I didn't drive) started our journey at 5 am. It took almost 3 hours to reach the training center called "Target Training Service".

On day 1, we had the test on performing high-quality CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) at first to assess our BLS course's effectiveness! Then, the instructor taught us about airway management. On which condition what airway adjunct should be chosen? How to put an advanced airway device!
The sun is almost up. But due to thick clouds, we can't see it properly
There are various flow charts on how to manage patients with various cardiac emergencies. The instructor taught us how to give shock. He also assigned us different roles to work as a team member to survive a patient in case of cardiac arrest or stroke!
Cloudy sky
On Day 2, we had the test on managing cardiac patients with different emergencies. Every one of us had to be the team leader to handle the emergencies. The instructor was quite strict! He didn't pass us without performing on a satisfactory level!!
Cloudy sky. A beautiful mosque
In the end, we had a written exam as well. It was MCQ-type questions. A total of 50 questions and the pass mark was over 84%! Alhamdulillah, all ended well!
The mosque, close view
The course ended at around 3 pm. We got the certificate within half an hour!
The famous highway tea shop. We took the coffee from this shop all 3 mornings
Then we started our return journey! We reached home after 7 pm!
