Greetings,
Although I do suffer from writer's block sometimes, I think I'm among those who write easily without spending too much time thinking about the topic. I primarily write from past experiences or from what I've seen happen to someone or to other people regarding the topic. That's why it's almost impossible to go through my articles without encountering an example or a reference to something that occurred, or what I saw or felt concerning the topic.
So, how do I generate my ideas for articles for particularly for Hive?
I've been here in this Hive blockchain for almost two years, and my writings so far have been primarily responses to prompts(say 80% of them are responses to prompts). Oh yeah, I find it easier to write based on prompts than to come up with my own ideas, which I usually do as well, but responding to prompts has been my most preferred method.
Whenever I see a prompt, maybe asking a question for me to air my opinion or asking for an experience of mine, I first reflect back to see if I have seen such a thing happen before or if I have experienced it myself. Of course, whatever a prompt is asking about must be something that I've either experienced before or seen happen to other people, places, or things. So I think about it, pick my ideas and points, and then tell how I feel about it.
One thing about my writing is that I don't write to please others; I write it the way my mind tells me to. Many times, I have been criticized for going too deep into the topic, but I feel I'm on the right track because I'm following my instincts. Also, everyone can't be on the same track.
In situations where the prompt asks us to explain a particular word, I go ahead to explain and give scenes or examples of such occurrences.
On occasions where I'm to write freely, I'm more of a comic person, so I easily pick funny scenes that happened to me, maybe recently or years ago, and write about them. Hey, I exaggerate a lot. Whenever I'm writing about such experiences, I tend to exaggerate to bring out the liveliness in them. This is why I love to write comedy....and I so much miss the activeness in Hive Open Mic Comedy Community
Another method I use to generate my articles is by going through my photo galleries, music playlists, and movies.
Although I don't write much about movies, I love watching them and getting ideas from them. My photo gallery, which is also like my experience gallery, gives me a lot of ideas as I flip through the photos. Music? I'm just engrossed with it. I write about music a lot, and it's one of the easiest topics for me to write about. In fact, on days when writer's block tries to set in, I usually fall back to listening to music and write about a particular track or an idea from the music.
Thanks for reading.
