The new year has begun and we are all very excited and happy waiting for good things, and here the holidays still do not end until January 6, when the children wait for the three Wise Men to arrive with gifts. More celebration, also more gifts, smiles and another typical sweet to eat... the Roscón! (In other moment will talk about this sweet too).
Ha empezado el nuevo año y estamos todos con mucha ilusión y felicidad esperando cosas buenas, además por aquí las fiestas aún no acaban hasta el día 6 de enero, cuando los niños esperan que lleguen los tres Reyes Magos con regalos. Más celebración, también más regalos, sonrisa y otro dulce típico que comer... ¡el Roscón! (En otra ocasión hablaremos sobre este dulce también).
But yesterday, Friday the 5th (January of course), the day is also special in Spain, especially the afternoon because it is the eve of the Three Wise Men and all the children are nervous and excited at the same time, and in each city or town there is a beautiful parade where different characters appear, all still in a Christmas atmosphere, the final stars being their Majesties the Kings of the East who have already arrived and along the way they are throwing candies that the already very experienced children quickly collect while they fill the bags. They are already coming from their homes anxiously with the plastic bags hoping to get a big sweet haul of candy.
Pero ayer viernes 5 (de enero claro) el día también es especial en España, sobre todo la tarde porque es la víspera de los Reyes Magos y todos los niños están nerviosos y emocionados al mismo tiempo, y en cada ciudad o localidad hay un bonito desfile o cabalgata donde aparecen diferentes personajes, todo aún en ambiente navideño siendo las estrellas finales sus Majestades los Reyes de Oriente que ya han llegado y en el recorrido van lanzando caramelos que los niños ya muy experimentados recogen rápidamente mientras van llenando las bolsas. Ya llegan de sus casas ansiosos con las bolsas de plástico esperando lograr un gran botín dulce de caramelos.
So yesterday I went to see the Parade for a moment to feel excited as a girl again. I have to say that those in big cities tend to be very spectacular and professional because the town councils spend a lot of money but those in smaller places are more humble, made in part because of the local people, but they have their charm and this time I wanted to experience one of these most popular. And with a train!
Así que ayer fui un momento a ver la Cabalgata para sentirme niña emocionada de nuevo. He de decir que las de las grandes ciudades suelen ser muy espectaculares y profesionales pues los ayuntamientos gastan bastante dinero pero las de lugares más pequeños son más humildes, hechas en parte porque la gente del lugar pero tienen su encanto y esta vez he querido vivir una de éstas más popular. ¡Y con un tren!
I saw in front of those children waiting for floats to pass, costumed walkers, artists and musicians while they threw candy into the air. And the parade of different organized groups began, a dancer in a very pretty transparent ball, others dressed as angels with large white wings, others dressed as cartoon characters, many locals were dressed as elves and everything acquired a fun festive atmosphere, when many children ran or bent down picking up the candies that had fallen to the ground.
Veía enfrente a esos niños esperando a que pasaran carrozas, paseantes disfrazados, artistas y músicos mientras lanzaban caramelos por los aires. Y empezó el desfile de diferentes grupos organizados, una bailarina en una bola transparente muy bonita, otros vestidos de ángeles con alas blancas grandes, otros disfrazados de personajes de dibujos, muchos locales iban vestidos de elfos y todo adquiría una divertida atmósfera festiva, cuando muchos niños corrían o se agachaban recogiendo los caramelos caídos al suelo.
Groups of schools also participated and each one wore a different color to differentiate themselves. There was a lot of music, bands and also loudspeakers that they were dragging and people danced with the children as they continued passing by. Yesterday was a beautiful and endearing experience.
También participaron grupos de colegios y cada uno iba de un color diferente para diferenciarse. Había mucha música, bandas y también altavoces que llevaban arrastrando y la gente bailaba con los niños mientras seguían pasando. Ayer fue una bonita y entrañable experiencia.
And it was getting dark but the lights made everything more magical although it looked worse for taking photographs, but it doesn't matter, because you can appreciate the spirit and you can see the floats that they have prepared with so much love for this special afternoon.
E iba anocheciendo pero las luces hacían todo más mágico aunque se veía peor para hacer fotografías, pero no importa, porque se aprecia el espíritu y se ven las carrozas que con tanto cariño han preparado para esta tarde especial.
And at the end the largest ones carried the Three Wise Men, Melchior, Gaspar and Baltasar (that's their name), who then secretly left gifts during the night and today in the morning all the children saw them under their Trees of Christmas. In the end, after the Parade and a nervous night, the illusion becomes reality.
Y ya al final las más grandes llevaban a los Reyes Magos, a Melchor, Gaspar y Baltasar (así se llaman), que han dejado después a escondidas regalos durante la noche y hoy por la mañana todos los niños los han visto debajo de sus Árboles de Navidad. Al final tras la Cabalgata y una noche nerviosa la ilusión se vuelve realidad.
Ah, we also got some candies too!
