The weekend arrives and sometimes we have big plans, but other times we simply want to rest, relax and also have time for other things in everyday life, which, without being so spectacular, are very pleasant and necessary.
Yesterday, Saturday, was a quiet day, one of those that we sometimes want, with small things that have to be done but that we are doing with pleasure, happy and relaxed.
They may even be sweet moments because when I left home the first stop was to the pastry shop, I had to buy a small cake for a somewhat improvised family celebration, later today... and while I was waiting I started to look at what they had on the transparent counters. Good things.
The sweet and salty things that they had left after a busy morning of customers, because there are always people and something has to wait, but today there was no rush and I could look at what they had left, although inside in the part of the workshop oven I know there were more.
Some salty cakes, like homemade pizzas and some traditional ones that around here are called “cocas” and many sweet things, to celebrate almost any moment with color and a lot of sweetness. And to celebrate there are also many accessories such as birthday candles, numbers of all colors and sizes, depending on the cake and many other decorations. It is difficult to choose in places like these, we will return…
And the next stop is to the open-air market, a local market of fruits, vegetables, and much more because there are clothes, household items and almost everything we can imagine, and we have to go round and round through corridors full of people, although it was already the last hour and there was a little less crowds.
Many stalls around, vegetable stalls without awnings, and others with awnings with almost no fruit because they had sold a lot, it depends on where it was, but a lot of life, commotion, and things to look at everywhere. Some stalls were great, they had all the colorful goods organized by different products, there showing the entire Valencian orchards, everything that the nearby land produces and how good we can eat, and it is not expensive.
For example, the most famous oranges, those from the fields of the region, mountains of oranges were crowded in other areas, and their intense aroma reached me as I passed because some were open and some were eating those who were there, selling nice natural and local products. Orange oranges, they make you want to eat one now.
But there remains the last stage of the routine shopping route, the supermarket, because we don't buy everything at the traveling farmers market, we also lack some other things and before we forget and get tired we start filling a basket with wheels because there won't be that many things, although in the end it always fills up and we leave with more bags than we imagined.
All that remains is to carry everything, with energy and strength, and go back, put everything in the kitchen, think about what to eat, and whether we will take a nap later. Because it is a quiet day, of rest and relaxation, in which we have walked, bought good food, enjoyed the happy and dynamic atmosphere with many good, colorful and delicious things, and also some sweets that I am looking forward to eat soon!
Let's enjoy moments like this, simple and pleasant, with tasty food and some delicious sweet dessert, as delicious as this Saturday morning shopping.
