Over three years now and I still go back to these pictures, feeling grateful and excited for moments that have long past. Looking at the pictures, I remember my years in school, the struggles, the fun and most importantly, the result (including lessons learnt) from the experience. They say, you never truly know what the other person is going through, unless you've been in their shoes before.
I respect students a lot, those who have decided to try their best, survive the hurdles and graduate with good grades. That is because I've been there and I'm grateful for the strength sources I found to get through all of that and now, tell the story.
One of my strength source was my favourite friend during school. It's amazing I still remember clearly how we both first met and I've been friends since then. These pictures is a great improvement from the pictures we took around the time we first met.
It's our graduating pictures, we had just finished our final exam paper which we believe we did so well on even before the results were out. My friend, Nancy always come to mind for one thing she does so easily... Encouraging me to encourage herself. When I don't feel like studying or feeling defeated about a difficult exam, she was so positive and somehow, we ace the exam more than we expected.
These pictures mark our hard work, a proof that we stayed together from our first year in school till our graduating year (more than 3 years). We didn't just do well in our course of studies, we learnt more about life, safety and gratitude. I can still remember a time we both were a victim of armed robbery, we survived but my friend lost some valuables.
That didn't give any setback but instead, we got better and became intentional of how we move around doing well in school. I've learnt so much from Nancy and I hope she did learn from me but I don't have to feel down if she didn't, do I? Lol.
As final days at school came to end, a few days to leaving school for what life has in store for graduates, Nancy suggested we take ourselves out, explore our school one more time and take pictures while at it. I bought the idea immediately and I'm so glad I did, I got to keep some pictures of my school environment as exciting souvenirs to look back to.
I remember how crazily we were dancing at a spot the art students used to practice dance moves for school programs. Thinking back now, I can't stop laughing. I wish I could show a video she took of me dancing so badly 😅 maybe I should take some time out to learn how to dance.
We took lots of pictures, chatted for hours how our years in school have been and possible plans for our future as graduates. Right now, we're both serving at different states but once in a while, we talk at length on phone and video calls. Soon, we would plan a meet up and I'm excited about it even though there is no fixed date yet. It's been more than a year since we last met, yeah, we met on my birthday last year.
Time indeed, flies! And for that, I am grateful for the things I've achieved, friends I've known and keep, the life I am living and for the things I am yet to achieve. Looking forward to building more bonds with people who would add positively to my life and I'll do same to them, these pictures are a proof of one.
Images are all mine
