Ah, the good old days of 2022, when the winds were calm, the skies were forgiving, and the DJI Air 2S and I soared above our little slice of agrarian heaven. Fast forward to today, and my drone flights have been grounded more than a rebellious teenager, thanks to relentless winds and torrential rain. But let's reminisce about that sweet flight over the local countryside while I eagerly await my first adventure with my shiny, six-week-old DJI Neo.
It was one of those perfect days in 2022. You know, the kind that makes you feel like the universe finally aligned to give you that dream drone flight. I launched my trusty DJI Air 2S into the crisp autumn air, capturing breathtaking views of the meandering streams, lush green fields, and rows of golden-leafed trees.
The neighborhood, a mosaic of pastoral beauty, looked like it was curated by Bob Ross himself, complete with "happy little trees." These images didn’t just happen by accident, they were the result of perfect timing, strategic maneuvering, and, let’s be honest, a bit of blind luck. Just a tiny tad!
The Highlights of the Flight:
Meandering Magic: The first shot of the serpentine stream cutting through vibrant green fields. This is nature’s way of saying, "Top that, Picasso!"
Golden Rows: Another gem is the aerial shot of the golden trees standing like nature’s sentinels, their reflections dancing on the water’s edge.
Sunset Bliss: Then there’s the warm embrace of the setting sun casting long shadows over the land (Image 3). The scene feels like it’s straight out of an oil painting that’s been kissed by golden hour.
The Grand Panorama: Oh, and the wide-angle, all-encompassing landscape that makes you feel both tiny and infinite at the same time (Image 4).
For me, this type of flights works therapeutic. There’s something profoundly calming about seeing the world from above. It’s a reminder that life’s chaos looks so much simpler when viewed from a higher perspective. Perhaps that’s why I’m itching to get back in the air.
The State of Flying Today:
Fast forward to 2025, and my drone, well, my DJI Neo, or any of the others, is getting less action than a parked bicycle in a snowstorm (no... no!). Winds and rain have conspired to keep me grounded, and it’s starting to feel like Mother Nature has some personal vendetta against drone enthusiasts. But no worries! The Neo is patiently waiting for its moment to shine. And trust me, when it does, the skies better prepare themselves for some serious cinematic magic.
So, while I sit here looking wistfully at my Neo, I’ll hold on to the memories of 2022. And if the winds ever calm and the rains cease, I’ll be up there again, capturing the world from angles most people never see.
