I'm still at the beginning of the story and as I adapt to the game's controls I struggle with the tutorial posters that intrude in the middle of the screenshots. They put a bit of Edward Kenway's backstory into context. So after a spirited sea battle I come face to face with a Brotherhood assassin. Fortunately or unfortunately we fall into the water due to an explosion of the ship in which I was sailing.
The depth of the ocean revealed a sordid beauty as I was surrounded by so many shipwrecks and sinking bodies. Half dead, confused and with a great chance of drowning, I swam to shore with the last of my strength until I managed to reach the shore.
To my surprise, the assassin who had previously confronted me with a desire for confrontation had also been shipwrecked on the same beach. He reached the shore half dead and was babbling that he had to get to Havana and that he would pay me for it. As I approached him I realized that it was all a lie and after his failed assassination attempt I decided to pursue him.
When I finally managed to reach the annoying assassin I had no choice but to eliminate him and among his things I found a very interesting letter. In the letter I know that the assassin's name was Duncan and that he was being awaited by the governor of Havana, who was waiting for him to give him a reward for some help he had given him. In the letter I also said that the governor did not know Duncan, so I took advantage of the opportunity, hid the corpse and dressed as an assassin to go to Havana and collect the reward.
When I was just finishing my new clothes I heard some shots coming from the other side of the island and when I arrived I realized that they had captured a merchant and accused him of being a pirate. This situation was very favorable to me and after freeing the prisoners I made friends with the merchant named Stede Bonnet. Luckily for me, this merchant was also heading for Havana and agreed to take me in exchange for me to captain his ship.
Here I want to make a small parenthesis in the story and say that, although this game has a lot of content, I prefer to show the one that alludes to piracy, since it is what I like the most. I will also be bringing another type of post to coincide with the weekly contest themes, but unless it's necessary, I don't want to put the screenshots of the Abstergo company part, unless it's necessary for the plot. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against that part of the game, but I just enjoy captaining a ship more than walking around the office with a tablet in my hand.
When I arrived in Havana, the first thing I did was to buy some swords because I was not supposed to have any. The funny thing is that at all times I was walking around with a set of swords tied to my waist. After exploring the city a bit I had to chase a thief who had stolen Stede's money. Later I passed by a tavern and apparently a sailor recognized my face and I made him understand that he had the wrong person.
I know I warned him several times that he was wrong, but they kept harassing me and I had no choice but to resort to fisticuffs. A bar fight is not a real fight if there are not some broken noses and unfortunately this time it would be mine. When the fight was getting good I had to flee, as Spanish officers arrived and captured the merchant.
After running away from the officers who were chasing me I had to recover the seized merchandise from my merchant friend. Unfortunately I could only recover my things and a bag of money and after saying goodbye to my friend I decided to go to the governor's mansion to collect my reward.
Upon arriving at the mansion I meet two peculiar men, who after evaluating my skills as an assassin, give me some pistols and a set of new blades. These two men named Woodes Rogers and Du Casse tell me that they had been waiting for me for some time to meet with the Governor. After showing them a little of what I know how to do, they take me to Governor Torres, who happens to be a Templar Grand Master.
What is the purpose of this meeting? What are the Templars planning? What role do I play in this story? Will I get my reward? Those questions and more will be answered in upcoming posts, so don't miss them.
