How connected the world is culturally; The truth you need to know.

in Cross Culture8 months ago (edited)

The world we live in currently is so connected that many people don't know because they don't have friends from other sides of the world. I have had the privilege to meet people from other parts of the world, and it may surprise you that some cultural traits in the west are worth the same as those in the east. Sometimes this makes me believe our ancestral father must have been from the same original, who then scattered across the world to start a new life in different locations.

Some friends I made way back.

I will give you a real-life example. I made a friend here on the hive, @shawnnft , and we were having a beautiful conversation. At some point, he made mention of the word "omo," which made me immediately think I was talking to someone from my own country. I asked him immediately, "Are you a Nigerian?" but I was surprised to learn that he was from China. (a game guru). Now, the word "omo" is used for almost the same reason in China as it is in Nigeria. The phrase "omo" is an informal expression commonly used in Simplified Chinese (China) to convey surprise, shock, or disbelief, and it is just like it is here in Nigeria. If a Nigerian walking past you says the word "omo," you will definitely know something is going on.

Now, let's leave the language aspect and dive deeper into what I find more amusing that connects us together. If you check every creation story or folk tale, no matter the description or character used, there are always similarity in our history. This is just to show you how connected the world is culturally.

You might be wondering, "The stories aren't the same; our dressing is different; our beliefs differ from one another." Well, I hate to break it to you that everything in this world evolves and changes. One thing that remains constant in this universe is "CHANGE," so no matter what we do, our culture—that is, our tradition, language, norms, values, dressing, and everything that builds up our culture—will change. What does this mean? It means all the beliefs we have today will change, and there will be a new story in the future, which is why I believe the world should unite more so the future can be built easily.

Finally, I have always been wise to travel around the world, see new places, and experience their culture, and since I cannot do that currently, I mostly visit different states in my country. There are 36 states in my country, and I have visited 19 of them.

Visiting other states in Africa isn't hard, especially our Nigerian junior brother country (Ghana), but visiting other countries outside of Africa is very difficult because getting their visa or approval by their embassy is always difficult. I wouldn't want to mention the names of countries, but getting a passport for my country is very easy, which means that if it is easy to get, then it is not powerful. This is what I believe.

Anyway, thanks for reading. I hope I have been able to bring some knowledge and something interesting to read to your screen. Have a great time on the hive. Adios.

Very true and it is just the way it is
Many people forget we are human first before we have a country

Hi, check the image sources. They should direct you to the site where they are hosted and not to the image itself. You have to know where they come from and who the author was.

Ok
I’ll do that
