Mini collection of little hens (and 2 little turtles)

in Hive Collectors5 months ago (edited)

Greetings to all, in this beautiful Hive Collectors Community, I hope that at the end of this month of January 2024 everyone is well, with health, prosperity, well-being and hope for a better tomorrow, a better life.

I have some decorative objects at home, some were from my aunt Chichita, others I have bought over the years, and these that I share today are ones that I have bought, and they are small hens made of clay, which initially there were many more, around 20, of various designs, almost all black (except for two), painted with cheerful designs and colors, (by the way, if you see my hands yellow in the photos, it's because that day I was harvesting and processing turmeric, and I accidentally dyed my hands).

I bought all of these little hens at a nearby store, which was in operation for decades, I think about 60 years. The last time I visited that store was in 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic. It was a kind of multi store, where you could buy everything from magazines to plates, crafts, candles, stones, essences, figurines, old toys, books, medicinal plants, flower pots and countless other things. This store was run for the last 25 years by the owner, an elderly woman who is still alive and who at the time I went to that store, was 98 years old, that is, she is currently almost 102 years old, a very old person, with a mind very lucid; however, when the pandemic began, the children and grandchildren decided that it was much wiser for the small store to close and for the old woman not to be exposed to that virus.

I remember this lady told me that she bought the clay figurines somewhere else, in another city, and she painted and decorated them like this, as you see them, with simple, but very beautiful designs. I suppose she would do that job of painting them long before she got so old, when her sight was still clear. I bought about 20 of these little hens over the years, but some were broken and others, although it may seem incredible, someone who visited my house stole about 5 from me and I realized it very late; so I decided to save these that I still have.

And I kept them so much that I hadn't gotten this other chicken-piggy bank, which is like the younger sister of the bigger one. I got it three days ago, when I was looking for something in my room, and I took the opportunity to take the photos the same day I took the photos of a anti-flu tea, that's why the difference in the background. I had already shared the largest of these piggy bank hens in a post of piggy bank

This chicken is a kind of sauce dispenser, because it is hollow, has a lid and a notch to insert a spoon. This is one of the few little hens that was not black, but white, like another much smaller one, which was brown and broke, and I only have the cover left.

And I really liked these little turtles, they were also painted by this old woman. They are made of wood and are placed on a glass base, I thought they were very cute.

Here I end my post today, where I share objects that are part of my home. I hope you liked it. Hugs!

What? Little chickens? But how cute they are!!

A shame that the store closed... That old lady painted them so nicely!

The little turtles are pretty too :))

Hi @mipiano,you're right, they're not chickens, they're little hens. It's a shame, yes, that store was small, but it was great. The lady is still alive, but she is already very very old.

Greetings!

I think the word chickens can be used in general, so the terminology doesn't matter a lot. My question was like a surprise, how cute they are, as I would not imagine seeing a collection of them :)) 😇

Thanks @mipiano

Yay! 🤗
