back in the 1980's when our kids were small we often bought a Donald Duck comic book to read together. not every week but maybe on the average 2 per month until the mid 1990's when they finally lost interest. years later, around 2014 when they had their own kids i started buying them occasionally for my grandkids. i wasn't really collecting them but i didn't throw many away either so now i have altogether 54 comic books, all Donald Duck in good condition. i laid them all out on the patio table and took some photos
this one is the oldest i have from 1980. i don't remember how i got it. my kids weren't born then. maybe they made a trade at some point.
1986 was the first year we bought any.
i don't have any really old ones but once in a while the comic book would include a flashback from the early years. here is a comparison of 1955 on the right to 2014 on the left. both have snowy winter themes. all in all, they haven't changed much. the biggest difference is the text fonts.
they used all caps in the earlier issues
but at some point switched to small letters
in between those years there were often issues with stronger colors
they aren't valuable like the issues from earlier years. i don't buy anymore as i don't have any use for them now. Disney's reputation has become tarnished so i considered giving them away. but when i went through them a while ago they brought back fun memories, so i guess i will just store them away for some more years. maybe the next generation will be interested.
