there are 2 separate objects casting their shadows on the same spot. one is the round street sign with a post that curves over the signboard and holds it up. the other is a young tree. recently the town excavated the road to lay sewage pipes. before that there were ornamental trees on the side. the old trees had to be removed for the excavation and when the work was finished they planted new young ones. when the sun is at the right angle the shadows overlap making it look like a single object, in this case with a little fantasy, to me they seem to resemble an alien.
