for this week's entry i was back in the garden overlooking the harbor. in the afternoon our picket fence casts a shadow onto the road along the harbor a few meters below. it is closed to most traffic and is a popular place to take a stroll, especially in the summer. this year there a two new ice cream stands along the way, making it even more popular.
this series of shots were all taken on the same afternoon. in the morning the shadow of our fence is cast back onto our garden. by noon the shadows run parallel to the road but after 14.00 or 2 PM the fence shadow falls on the road and the shadows of the people passing by are roughly perpendicular to the road. the setting is ideal for a shadow hunter especially because quite often the shadows feature unexpected and amusing depictions of the people casting them
here the girl in front seems to be painting our fence. i don't dare conjecture what is going on with those two behind her
this early in the afternoon our fence only covers part of the road and of course in addition to pedestrians there are cyclists such as Little Red Riding Hood here. all these shots are candid images. any interpretations of what the shadows reveal are my own and should not be understood as explanations of what the people involved were actually doing but rather as a shadow hunter having fun.
