Portal to Another World
This is my first posting in the #ShadowHunters Community, although I have known of its existence for quite some time, mostly thanks to a few posts published over the years by @hoosie.
As always, it took me a while to get out of my comfort zone and find the will to change my routine, so despite the fact that every now and then I managed to take some photos that would have been suitable for this contest, it was only today that I managed to find the inspiration to write something!
What gave me the motivation I needed was this suggestive sunset I witnessed yesterday while crossing a bridge over the Arno in Florence with my girlfriend.
The water flowed placidly beneath us, in an almost surreal calm, forming a perfect mirror in which everything was reflected, starting from the left shore, with its buildings and some lights already lit up, passing through the sky, with the clouds and the colours of the sunset, and ending with the right shore, where the first spring leaves were already beginning to grow on some trees.
Looking at the world mirrored in water has a kind of magic and almost gives the impression of looking at the gateway of another dimension, in every way the same as ours, but completely specular and rippled by slight and almost imperceptible disturbances.
The effect is in my opinion very dramatic, especially when the reflecting surface is large and wide, like that of a river or lake.
Only a few hours earlier a thunderstorm had hit the city, which made this shot even more unexpected, as I never, ever thought I would find the waters of the Arno so quiet.
In future I hope to be able to give more attention to moments like this, so that I can once again immortalise them in a shot and share them in this Community :)
Luck has it that in the area where I live and travel, water sources are always abundant and it is not uncommon to come across bigger or smaller rivers and, sometimes, even lakes in which the whole world is reflected, as if inviting us to dive in and find ourselves caught in another dimension!

Portale verso un Altro Mondo
Questa è la mia prima pubblicazione nella Community #ShadowHunters, sebbene sapessi della sua esistenza da diverso tempo, soprattutto grazie ad alcuni post pubblicati nel corso di questi anni da @hoosie.
Come sempre ci metto un po' ad uscire dalla mia comfort zone ed a trovare la voglia di modificare la mia routine, per cui, nonostante ogni tanto mi sia capitato di scattare qualche foto che sarebbe stata adatta per questo contest, solo oggi sono riuscito a trovare l'ispirazione per scrivere qualcosa!
A darmi la spinta di cui avevo bisogno è stato questo suggestivo tramonto a cui ho assistito ieri, mentre attraverso un ponte sull'Arno a Firenze insieme alla mia ragazza.
L'acqua scorreva placidamente sotto di noi, in una calma quasi sovrannaturale, formando uno specchio perfetto in cui tutto si rifletteva, a partire dalla riva sinistra, con i suoi edifici ed alcuni luci già accese, passando per il cielo, con le nuvole ed i colori del tramonto, e concludendo con la riva destra, dove su alcuni alberi cominciavano già a crescere le prime foglie primaverili.
Guardare il mondo riflesso in uno specchio d'acqua ha un qualcosa di magico e dà quasi l'impressione di star osservando il portale d'ingresso ad un'altra dimensione, in tutto è per tutto uguale alla nostra, ma completamente speculare ed increspata da dei leggeri e quasi impercettibili disturbi.
L'effetto è a mio avviso molto scenografico, soprattutto quando la superficie riflettente è ampia e grande, come quella di un fiume o di un lago.
Solo poche ore prima un temporale aveva colpito la città e ciò ha reso questo scatto poi ancora più inaspettato, dato che mai e poi avrei pensato di trovare le acque dell'Arno così calmo.
In futuro spero di riuscire a prestare più attenzione a momenti come questo, così da poterli nuovamente immortalare in uno scatto e condividere in questa Community :)
Fortuna tra l'altro vuole che nelle zone in cui vivo e che frequento le fonti d'acqua siano sempre abbondanti e non è raro imbattersi in fiumi, torrenti e, qualche volta, anche laghi in cui il mondo intero si riflette, quasi invitandoci a tuffarci e ritrovarci catapultati in un'altra dimensione!
