You see, I live in a small town in Yaracuy, a state in Venezuela. This city is called San Felipe and one of its peculiarities is that it lacks buildings of many floors, unlike other cities.

Yes, it has some three-story buildings, some four-story buildings, but no buildings of more than ten stories or anything like that, except for a single building in the government area of the city, where the government palace, a central square (called Plaza Bolivar), a cathedral and other important buildings related to the government are concentrated.

This single building is the Administrative Building of the Yaracuy State Government and is the closest thing to the large buildings that I recently saw, for example, in Caracas. This building has more than five floors (I think seven or eight, I am not sure), the tallest building in my city.

Verán, vivo un una pequeña ciudad de Yaracuy, un Estado de Venezuela. Esta ciudad se llama San Felipe y una de sus peculiaridades es que carece de edificios de muchos pisos, a diferencia de otras ciudades.

Sí, tiene algunos edificios de tres pisos, algunos de cuatro, pero no tiene edificios de más de diez pisos o algo por el estilo, salvo un único edificio en la zona gubernamental de la ciudad, donde se concentra el palacio de gobierno, una plaza central (llamada Plaza Bolivar), una catedral y otras edificaciones importantes relacionadas con el Gobierno.

Este único edificio es el Edificio Administrativo del a Gobernación del Estado Yaracuy y es lo que más se le acerca a los grandes edificios que hace poco vi, por ejemplo, en Caracas. Este edificio cuenta con más de cinco pisos (creo que siete u ocho, no estoy seguro), el edificio más alto de mi ciudad.

In the photos above, you can see what the building looks like from a distance, a huge building that certainly stands out when compared to the smaller buildings in the surrounding area. In fact, I remember that from my house you can see the top of the building, because it is the tallest thing here.

Getting a little closer to the building, you can see the entrance stairs. It is a government building but access to the surrounding area is permitted, although you cannot enter the internal offices without permission.

En las fotos de arriba, pueden apreciar cómo es el edificio visto desde la distancia, un edificio enorme y que sin dudas resalta si se compara con las pequeñas edificaciones de los alrededores. De hecho, recuerdo que desde mi casa puede verse la cima del edificio, porque es lo más alto que hay aquí.

Acercándome un poco más al edificio, pueden ver las escaleras de la entrada. Es un edificio gubernamental pero el acceso a sus alrededores está permitido, aunque no se puede ingresar a las oficinas internas sin permiso.

A picture I like to take of this kind of buildings is of the facade, but from below, so you can get an idea of how the building looks from my point of view when looking up to the sky.

It looks simply great and although it is a little neglected in some places, like the windows for example, it is interesting the symmetry that there is in this building.

Una foto que me gusta tomar a este tipo de construcciones es a la fachada, pero desde abajo, para que tengan una idea de cómo se ve el edificio desde mi punto de vista al alzar la vista al cielo.

Se ve simplemente genial y aunque está un poco descuidada en algunos lugares, como los ventanales por ejemplo, es interesante la simetría que hay en esta edificación.

From one side you can also see the large number of windows and looking at the photos, it is interesting to count how many windows there are, and also to count how many floors the building has according to these windows.

From this angle, the building looks even bigger, especially with the blue sky in the background. A beautiful and contrasting view with that of other cities, where the background landscape of some buildings, are even larger buildings.

Desde un costado se puede observar también la gran cantidad de ventanas que tiene y viendo las fotos, es interesante el ejercicio de contar cuantas ventanas hay, también el de contar cuantos pisos tiene el edificio en función de estas ventanas.

Desde este ángulo, el edificio se ven aún más grande, sobre todo con el cielo azul al fondo. Una vista hermosa y contrastante con la de otras ciudades, donde el paisaje de fondo de algunos edificios, son edificios aún más grandes.

Although I said that access to the building was not allowed, it is free to walk around it. In fact, the building has some really nice walkways around it, with a trellis at the top covered by many plants, creating a really beautiful natural roof.

Aunque dije que el acceso al edificio no estaba permitido, sí es libre el tránsito por sus alrededores. De hecho, el edificio tiene unas caminerías realmente lindas alrededor, con un enrejillado en la parte superior cubierto por muchas plantas, que crean un techo natural realmente hermoso.

Of course, we are currently living in a hot and really dry season, where there is not much rain; however, the good care of these plants has allowed them to remain green and lush despite the heat and lack of water.

These plants cover almost the entire upper trellis of these walkways, something that can be seen even on benches located on the sides of the first floor, where many people sit to rest during the hours of shade. This is a much busier place after 5 o'clock in the afternoon, when the sun is already setting.

Claro, actualmente se vive una época calurosa y realmente seca, donde no hay mucha lluvia; sin embargo, el buen cuidado de estas plantas ha permitido que a pesar del calor y la falta de agua, puedan mantenerse verdes y frondosas.

Estas plantas cubren casi todo el enrejillado superior de estas caminerías, algo que se puede ver incluso en banquillos ubicados en los laterales de la planta baja, donde muchas personas se sientan a descansar durante las horas de sombra. Este es un lugar mucho más transitado después de las 5 de la tarde, cuando el sol ya se está ocultando.

While still walking along these sides, I took a couple of extra pictures so you could appreciate this building from my point of view, as if you were looking at it from the two sides of the first floor.

A view of the concrete and iron in perfect combination with the green that adorns this pair of photos. Gray and green are things that can go hand in hand and create buildings with a good balance of these colors.

Mientras aún caminaba por estos laterales, tomé un par de fotografías extras para que pudieran apreciar este edificio desde mi punto de vista, como si estuvieran viéndolo desde los dos laterales de la planta baja.

Una vista del concreto y el hierro en perfecta combinación con lo verde que adorna este par de fotos. El gris y el verde son cosas que pueden ir de la mano y crear edificaciones con un buen equilibrio en estos colores.

In fact, analyzing the photos (the one above and the one below), you can see how on one side there is shade and on the other side there is sun, being the same plants the ones that show which zone receives more sun and which receives more shade, being the one that receives more sun the one that is drier due to the intense heat and the summer.

On the other hand, the shaded area shows flowers a little more colorful, as they receive enough sunlight to grow and the necessary water to maintain themselves in this hot climate.

De hecho, analizando las fotos (la de arriba y la e abajo), se puede ver cómo de un lado hay sombra y del otro hay sol, siendo las mismas plantas las que muestran qué zona recibe más sol y cual recibe mas sombra, siendo la que recibe más sol la que está más seca por el intenso calor y el verano.

Por otra parte, la zona de sombra muestra flores un poco más coloridas, pues reciben luz de sol suficiente para crecer y el agua necesaria para mantenerse en este clima tan caliente.

This is undoubtedly one of the most underrated places in my city, because one sees this building every day but does not stop to observe how unique it is in the whole city and how beautiful it looks in these lonely and sunny streets, with these gigantic palm trees that match in such a gigantic building, gigantic within the average we see in my small city...

Este es sin dudas uno de los lugares más infravalorados de mi ciudad, pues uno ve todos los dias este edificio pero no se detiene a observar lo único que es en toda la ciudad y lo lindo que se ve en estas solitarias y soleadas calles, con estas gigantescas palmeras que hacen juego en tan gigantesca edificación, gigantesca dentro del promedio que vemos en mi pequeña ciudad...
