Hello archi lovers!
When we go to other places we observe the environment and also the architecture we find can teach us a lot about other times and we also enjoy the perennial beauty that remains. And we go again to the beautiful Italy.
This time we travel along the Riviera del Brenta, a river that crosses the Veneto region in northeastern Italy, and where we find several points of interest and a town where we can stop and get to know it, such as Strà.
But before arriving along the river we came across a grandiose and majestic building, it is impossible not to see it in the middle of all that padovanese plain, it is not far from the city of Padua, and it is impressive.
Villa Pisani
It is one of several Venetian villas in the area, perhaps the most important is Villa Pisani. It is actually a palace, baroque style, elegant and beautiful that catches our attention, and the good thing is that it can be visited.
At that time, the wealthy and important Italian families, such as the Pisani, had these villas to demonstrate their power and wealth and to enjoy them especially during the summer seasons.
So we entered and marveled, first at the patio, and then inside a ceiling painted by one of the great Italian masters of painting of that time, Tiepolo (18th century more or less) and also as we go through it, because now it is a museum, we find delicate and wonderful pieces, from more paintings, engravings, curtains, furniture...
Yes, antique furniture with incredible detail, and especially the one that we cannot overlook is a large bed, somewhat short but very pompous, with lots of gilding, curtains and symbols. In one of those gold symbols with the eagle we see a letter “N” and it turns out that it is the N of Napoleon who slept here, because he bought the villa from the family years later to use it as a summer residence, for his breaks in Italy. Curious how we stumbled upon history when we saw a bed in an antique villa on the bank of a river.
But we came out on the other side and the image takes our breath away, it is not Versailles, but it doesn't have to be because the place is charming, reflecting all its splendor on the pond that beautifies the entire environment. The façade, at that time was under restoration, but even so it does not detract from its beauty, we can continue contemplating the entire complex almost with Stendhal syndrome, impressed.
Because around the pond several statues adorn the view, and it takes on a romantic air, especially then at sunset, we look closely at some of those divine statues and it seems like an idyllic moment. There is also a hedge maze and a keep in the center but it was closed.
###Strà
So the dream of a summer visit ends and that's when we arrive at the town, Strà. It is a small Italian city full of history, in which its urban honorific monuments remind us well of those years of world war and all those men who perished in it. And other places like the church, we can see the tower there.
But there is more next to the quiet river we discovered curious corners, such as another elegant and historical building with columns and statues on top that seems to now be an exhibition palace because there was an exhibition, a fair on wedding products. I imagine there will be weddings in such a charming place... that makes us dream while we look at one of the flows of the Brenta River and think about those painted ceilings and those wonderful statues of Villa Pisani.
