Sunny sunday wedding

in Daily Blog13 days ago (edited)

Hi my hive family, today being the 10th of November, 2024 was a memorable day for me, it's a friend's wedding. A friend's wedding? that's the question I was asking myself when the friend told me about his wedding being a christian, I didn't know that wedding used to take place on Sunday not until my friend's own . Favour, a very good friend. Favour called me 3 months ago after his introduction to share the good news of his wedding ceremony coming up on the 10th of November, 2024 which happens to be today, No wonder there's a saying in my local language that if you pick 20 years for an event that the 20years will surely come which this event that I was told 3 months again was no exception.

'Kukuruku' ( the bird crows) was the sound I heard very early this morning which is telling the day has broken, on hearing the sound of the bird , i rose up very quickly, although, i could not even sleep tight just because of the event and also my dry cleaner could not meet up with the cleaning of my clothes so he promised to deliver the clothing to me first thing this morning. So, as I woke up, I dialled his number and it was switched off, I was angry within me , 'how can he do this to me this morning?' I was asking myself. Immediately, I brushed my teeth , I headed to his place and getting there he was still ironing my clothes, hmmm! I was angry and at the same time I couldn't say anything. After he has finished with the ironing, I quickly left the place to my apartment to dress up. Finally, I got my cloth.

After dressing up, I set out for the big occasion, Favour's wedding ceremony. When I got to the park, I took the last bus to ile-Ife, a town in the southwest of Nigeria was the venue of the wedding ceremony. Fortunately, I was the last passenger to be taken by the bus.But lo and behold, it was not a smooth journey because of the poor state of the road from Ibadan to Ile-Ife, there were pot holes on the road , at a particular portion of the road, a fuel tanker fell but thank God there was no explosion and this is because the tanker was empty.

Finally, I got to the big place for the big event where everything was set to happen. Everywhere was colorful with families of both couple on ground to witness the special day, friends of the groom were also present , I even met with our old colleagues in secondary school every where was full of invited people. The venue was like a reunion ground, I saw Niyi, he did not finish his secondary education at our school Zion Baptist High School, Osogbo southwestern Nigeria. I didn't believe my eyes when I saw him, he was the first to call my name and we took shot together, I was really happy to see him again. We started reminiscing about the past years we had together at school, what a lovely moment?.
Now was the time for the event proper, I thought Favour told me he was doing a low key wedding, but what I saw there was more than a lowkey wedding with the number of people around and logistics put in place, seriously the planning was massive. We were at the event centre when my friend the groom himself came in , I walked up to him to embrace and congratulate him on his big occasion. He was also happy to see you me. I was highly flaterred. He then entered into the venue with his best man. Not quite long, the bride came with her bridesmaids in another car. Guess who the bride is? It's FUNKE! How come? The last daughter of our school principal who could have imagined both of them getting married. It's true that destiny cannot be changed. Immediately Funke stepped into the hall with her people, the both family were separated and given different space to sit and the Master of ceremony started coordinating the programme. What a glorious day? Everybody at the venue was happy and to those people that were looking forward to a day like that of Funke and Favour, they were equally praying for their own day of joy to come. What next?

Immediately after the exchange of vows, the Fuji maestro Shina shina came up stage with good music. Food was also being served to the invited people as reception went underway, the reception took place at the same event centre and it was glorious with the men in Agbada on ground, it was not a dull moment, I even went to greet my former principal and his dear wife Mr Adewale who could barely recognize me, if not for the my proper introduction of myself. The man is still agile and jovial. He was happy to see me, he asked about my late mum but I told him, she was no more. It was a colorful sunday party to a very good friend. Congratulations Fsquare. So I exchanged contacts with my old friends and left around 5pm

Hivebuzz , thank you so much

It's funny to know that everyday of the week is usable for wedding ceremonies but not all churches 😅.
You had a nice groove.
Weldone sir!🙌
