15 January 2024
Hello friends and Hivers. Hope all is going well. Today was yet another very cold day here. Today I had a few things to do and it involved leaving the house. It's a holiday here and its to remember a great civil rights leader, Martin Luther King,Jr.
As I look at the weather forecast in the days ahead I see bumpy temperatures. All temperatures are listed in Fahrenheit above. It looks like a roller coaster of temperature but I'm looking forward to Wednesday as it will be a lot warmer than what it has been. It will be short lived as it will be be cold again to start the weekend. There is a glimmer of hope starting on Monday as temperatures could reach above freezing.
One of the first things I did this morning was to clear the car off of snow and start it. My car was whining and took a few seconds before it started. Once it was warmed up I headed to get some breakfast at Burger King. My son requested it and I didn't mind because I have been cooking a lot lately.
Once breakfast was finished I had to bring my son to his school for a walk through preparation for a game he has today. It was at 10:00 and I thought maybe he would stay there ahead of a 1:45 game start.
Once I dropped him off I stopped at the grocery store to pick up somethings. I picked up some coffee creamer, apples, strawberries, soup, whip cream, chips, angel food cake loaf and ice cream. You will have to wait until Saturday what I have in store for the ice cream 🍨🍦
While shopping my son texted me he forgot his warm up shirt. I told him I would bring it to him later around 12:30. Once I got home I brought groceries inside and put them away. After that I headed back to my car to take somethings out of it because I have appointment to drop it off.
I got back inside and sat down on the couch. I maybe sat down for 2 minutes and my son called me to let me know he was done and needed picked up. It was 11:00 now and we got back home at about 11:20. He told me he needed to be back at the school at 12:00. I hadn't taken a shower yet so I took a quick one.
After I dropped him off, I called a rental car company to confirm my appointment. If you read my article a few days ago you would know that I hit something on the front left side of the bumper. Anyways, it took forever going through the prompts and listening to hold music. It's good I called them because my reservation was messed up. They didn't have the pick up scheduled at the auto body shop I needed to to be picked up at.
After that I headed to the Auto body shop. Oh disappointment came, I walk in,tell them my name and that I was here to drop off my car. They tell me that they just have an appointment to do an estimate. I bit my tongue and let out a breath of frustration. Actually I was mad but hid that fact. It's a good thing I showed up about 25 minutes early because now I have to cancel the rental car pick up.
It only took them about 15 minutes to do an estimate. It's really not that important how much it will be to fix as I have $250 deductible. The total cost of repair was just shy of $1500. It pays to have insurance, $250 is much better than $1500. So now I have to wait until 29 January to drop off my car. I was told it will take no longer 5 days to fix once I drop off.
After leaving the body shop I went directly to my son's basketball game. It was a back and forth fast paced game and I only took one photo because of this fact. His team won 85-83 and he chipped in 26 points!
After the game, he talked to both the news paper and a local sports media. There also was television station there that was recording some of the game. I never had a chance to watch the news yet to see if they had a clip of the game. I'll definitely be checking their website out later.
Shortly after the game my son received the above text. Only was I amazed and proud of yet another great game he put in there was this. I probably was more excited about it than him. I was proud in two different ways. One is the obvious he's nearing a free college education. The other is he did a great job I think of communicating with the college coach. Super proud way to end a day that had some hiccups!!
I didn't do much the rest of the day but watch some American football. I went to bed early at around 9:30 p.m.as I was falling asleep watching the last the football game.
This is all I have for you on my day which is now yesterday. Take care, stay safe and have a great week ahead.
