Hi friends,

This weekend after a few weekends in which for one reason or another I have been able to meet with my friends to have some wine and talk about our things.

I love to meet up with them in the late afternoon and share a couple of wines with some tapas that the bars offer us so that the wine goes better and the conversations go more smoothly.

We talk a lot about health, as one of my colleagues has a serious spinal problem, and we also talk a lot about cars. We have had several car mishaps in the last few weeks with quite costly breakdowns.

The bar where we met was the cafeteria/bar el moderno in Tapia de Casariego, which is a very cozy place where I love its decoration and how using some blackboards they have drawings of comic book characters like this wonderful Panoramix.

After a couple of hours of conversation, it was 10 o'clock at night and obviously we were already hungry, so we decided to move to a nearby restaurant which is the Alamo Restaurant, where the cachopo days are celebrated during these weeks.

What is a cachopo?

A cachopo is a typical and popular dish from Asturias that is very similar to cordon bleu. It usually consists of two large fillets of beef stuffed with cheese and ham, all coated with flour or breadcrumbs and egg. But as you will see, the cachopos have been innovated both in the type of meat used for the steaks and in the fillings.

After entering the restaurant, the waitress who served us gave us the QR code to access the menu and in it we saw the multitude of different cachopos they had to offer us.

Since we were 3 adults and my friend Eduardo's son, who was already an adult, we decided to order 3 different cachopos to share among all of us.

Additionally, our mouths were already a little hot from the wine we had drunk earlier and since only one of us had to drive, we also ordered a bottle of white wine which was very, very tasty. In fact, I have already noted this brand of wine on my list of favorite wines.

As for the cachopos we ordered, the first one we ordered was a fish cachopo that without detracting from the following cachopos that I will show you is the one I liked the most.

It is a cachopo consisting of two hake fillets stuffed with seafood accompanied by a light sauce and clams. I am salivating again looking at the photos of yesterday.

Next, we ordered two meat cachopos that were a little out of the traditional beef cachopo and classic stuffing so we ordered first a cachopo of chicken breast with ham and cheese and finally one of pork tenderloin stuffed with ham and cow's cheese.

Between the two cachopos of meat, the pork tenderloin was very good tasting and I had never tasted this meat and has nothing to envy to the traditional cachopo of beef fillet.

After the cachopos, believe it or not, we were still hungry, so we ordered some homemade desserts to share which consisted of cheesecake, almond cake and carrot cake.

I love carrot cake, since I tried it a few months ago, I always order it whenever I have the chance.

And to top it off, a tasty coffee before returning home to enjoy a Sunday with the family.

Greetings and good Sunday.
