It's all thanks to this community, I'm learning a lot about cycling through researches and reading from some cyclists here. When I first learned how to ride a bike, I wasn't given any written guide or info of what getting into cycling would mean to my life's daily routine.
Even though I'm yet to own a bike and have my usual routine altered with the fun it brings, I know well now that there is a high possibility of getting addicted to cycling and I'm looking forward to building an healthy cycling lifestyle.

Like every other thing or hobbies, cycling can also be addictive but it is a good addiction from what I've about cycling. There are bad addictions and even some addiction people have to their phones are bad but there are also the good addiction and my focus for one of these good addictions is Cycling.
From the few knowledge I've learned, getting into cycling should be more than just learning how to ride a bike. There should be some things told to every cyclist before they get in the habit of loving bike riding. I came across a few things some cyclists if not many, do not know before they developed their passion for cycling.
Here are some things you should know before becoming a cyclist and if you've been into cycling for long, you may know these and maybe add more for others to know in the comment section of this post. I'll share five things you should know.
1. You'll love cycling more and more
I can still remember the excitement I had when I got good at riding my cousin's bike. It took more than two weeks to ride it myself although my cousin did say the bike was complex and too big for me but I was a good learner. Once I could ride his bike, the love for riding increased. I would ride his bike all day whenever he decides to stay home. I can imagine loving it even more if I had my own personal bike, got friends to ride along with, and even organise to experience outdoor bike activities with family.
2. Bike parts will be everywhere
But most assuredly, you'll find bike parts literally everywhere in your home when you own one. Well, this may be minimal with a cyclist who is very organized but for any less organized, you could find your bike helmet in the kitchen or the pedals on the floor of your storage. Finding parts of your bike whenever you want to go for a ride is almost inevitable but that is just a part of owning a bike.
3. There would always be a reason for one more/new bike
There's always the love for new things when we love them like phones, cars, wears and stuffs like that. As there are new trends or brands with better features for most of them, bikes do have theirs. Once you get a bike, you'd realize how many bike shops are there in your area. Any passionate cyclist would want to find a reason for a new bike even when others find their bike so cool. So what you should know before you start cycling is that, you would also find reasons for one more bike.
4. You'll slowly become a bike mechanic and expert
Just as you asked people you thought knew much about biking, you'll be in their shoes when you own your bike. Every non cyclist would take you as an expert since you have a bike. Whatever you do on your bike whether repair or cool riding style would look difficult to do to a cycling layman and somehow you'll just have to live the life of a bike expert whether you're one or not.
5. Life will revolve around riding for you
Just as my life revolves around my phone as I do most of day's activities with it, same as my studies when I was still in school. The same would happen with my bike if I should get one to become a cyclist. It's not something so surprising as we've experienced our lives revolving around things in different ways. You see even far distance okay to ride through, imagine riding your bike during a dream vacation and a lot more like that. Having your thoughts occupied with the love for cycling.
I've also learnt that cyclists tend to eat a lot more than non cyclists, don't know how true it is yet until I become a true cyclist myself but it is an experience I wish would be true for me when I become one. So tell me, what more do you know about cycling that you didn't know until you became one?
