There are various ways in which we are portrayed and one of them is social media.
As wide as this platform is it makes it even harder to believe the profile on it as many fake their personality and pretend to be who they are not for various reasons but negligent to the consequences of this behavior.
Social media is one of the biggest and most well-known marketing spaces with lots of advantages and disadvantages where lots of money can be made and popularity can be gained. Still, many would rather have all this in an inappropriate way which is by faking their profile and becoming who they are not.
But why do people keep fake profiles:
- Perfection:
Many want to be perfect but not ready to put in the work and effort instead they portray perfection through social media pages and when people view their profiles they only see the fake part of them and not the real one.
- Comparison:
When we see other people doing some great we want to be like them but we leave the part where they’ve been building their selves from scratch till they reach where they are today leading many to become who they are not on social media.
- Fame:
Keeping fake profiling is the best way for some people to think they can be famous deceiving the masses and making it seem like others are not even trying.
I don’t believe people through their profiles nor do I judge a person through their social media platforms especially when it comes to assigning a job to them.
A perfect example of keeping a fake profile was my furniture guy who made me dislike almost all the workmen like him because of the way he attended to my job.
Met him on Instagram where he posted nice works that caught my attention with the hope that he’ll do a great job.
I planned a meeting and we discussed the price and I paid him 60% of his pay for a start and I kept expecting my work for a month but he didn’t deliver it and when he ended up bringing it it was “what I ordered versus what I got” lol 😂.
After some time I just had to take the job somewhere else to fix it because it couldn’t serve its purpose since then I have never trusted any online workmen again.
From my point of view, I will advise people to keep positive profiles on their social media platforms especially those with the hope of getting jobs online for a better understanding of who they are
