If you had the choice of spending $50 USD on books or clothing for yourself which would you choose and why?
I am guessing most people would go for books because it's a more enriching choice because books are full of knowledge, whereas clothing might make one seem like they prioritise material items in life. But in life, nothing is black and white, and choices aren't so straightforward sometimes.
As for me, my potentially controversial choice would be to spend the money on clothing for myself.
The reason that I choose clothing wasn't because I am materialistic. My life is pretty much simplistic and to be honest, I haven't spent 50 USD on clothes this entire year because most of my clothes are still in decent condition, but I ought to refresh my wardrobe at some point because I have been wearing some of my T-shirts and shorts for several years, and the colours are starting to fade. So 50 USD would come in handy to just get some basic clothing! At the end of the day, minimalistic people still have to spend on clothes too!
On the other hand, the reason I didn't choose to spend the money on books was because I feel that books are quite outdated these days. Most of the non-fiction content are outdated because the world is constantly changing, social media and blogs have more timely information. For example, if I was looking for ways to invest my money or information about cryptocurrency, it would be kinda scary to reference books that were published a few years ago when there's so much more current information on the Internet. The only saving grace is probably fiction, which are the likes of the Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings. Perhaps there's an element of fantasy in these fiction books, but I am not sure if grown ups these days read fiction? I enjoyed them during my schooling days, but these days, they are not my cup of tea anymore.
So the decision is pretty straightforward for me because clothing is a practical choice. Perhaps a hypothetical question would be whether I want 50 USD of Hive or clothing? :P
