You can only eat two different types of food until the day you die; what are they and why?
This is such a tough choice, particularly because in Singapore, there's so many different cuisines available because of our multi-racial and multi-religion population. After thinking hard, I shall shortlist two types of food that I have been eating at least once every week.
Chicken Rice
I am a fan of Chinese food, be it rice, noodles, dim sum, or even soupy dishes. If I only can pick one, that would be chicken rice, which is a dish that can be found in every hawker centre or coffee shop. The prices range between SGD 4 to 6 these days (no thanks to inflation), which is about USD 3 to 5.
Taking in consideration that I would have to eat this for the rest of my life, the nutrition aspect is covered here. With a good amount of rice, chicken breast for protein, and eggs are good too! And there's cucumber on the side too.
So this dish pretty much ticks the checkbox with a good balance of affordability, taste, and nutrition.
Acai Bowls
Acai bowls are something that I have discovered in the recent years. Basically, the base is acai sorbet, and one can choose the different toppings to go with it. The toppings are mostly fruits, nuts, sauces, and even granolas.
In this bowl below, this is what I have: acai sorbet, mango sorbet, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, pitaya, granola, chia seeds. This costs SGD 11.10 (around USD 8.50), which is slightly more expensive than the average meal over here. However, I think it's worth the price because it's packed with many different healthy ingredients and some of the stuff like acai and chia seeds aren't cheap too!
Taste wise, it's yummy too! There's probably some sugar within it, but the fruits are generally already sweet and having a variety of toppings means we get a good amount of intake for various vitamins.
So that's all for my recommendations! What do you think? :)
