First of all, Kung Hei Fat Choi to those celebrating Chinese New Year. This will be a very long weekend on my side which will give me a chance to spend my holidays however I want them to in an active or sedentary way.
This is in response to the Weekend-Engagement 192 with the question:
"Are you physically active on the weekend or do you prefer a sedentary weekend lifestyle? Explain, and give examples. Remember to use your own photos."
A working person would most likely want to spend her weekend resting and recharging after a demanding workweek. The closer the weekend gets, the more excited I become every time. On certain days, I even wish the day could go by faster or that I could just hop straight to the weekend so I could unwind. This occurs when I am overburdened with work-related tasks, and I find it difficult to find time for relaxation.
Although people know me as a weekend travel enthusiast, I am just a human, and I can feel exhaustion as well. When I feel burnt out and that my body needs some time to recharge, I want my weekend to be sedentary. I will simply find comfort underneath my blanket with my pillow. Plans will be set aside, alarms will be turned off, and sleeping more is all I desire.
I want my weekend to be a sanctuary of relaxation in the four corners of my room with only limited things to do, usually consisting of binge-watching, food tripping, and self-pampering. Those are the days that I cherish simple joys, find balance in simple things, care for myself more, write my journal when in a mood, spend moments of introspection, and visit Hive in between times.
However, a sedentary lifestyle isn't really my forte. I'm an active person who makes out of my life and creates beautiful experiences when I have a chance. After a long week of grinding, one of the rewards I want for my hard work is traveling. My body is more active doing adventures, and always excited to visit new places, and hidden gems in nature, or simply stroll down the cities.
As the adage above says, the weekend is our chance to take a breather, take things slowly, and appreciate life. My way of doing that is immersing myself in a place where I appreciate the surrounding beauty and simple moments I create with my life.
I like going to the top of the mountains and watching the world before me. I feel a sense of peacefulness while watching the world from atop. The bustling cities seem silent, the world seems so tiny that I could hold it within my embrace, and just seeing this kind of picturesque helps recharge my body.
Oftentimes, I like going to places where the sky meets the sea. I don't go swimming, although I want to do some water adventures someday, all I want is to see the calming sea, walk barefoot on the golden fine sand, or simply walk along the promenade. Most of the time, I just want to watch the waves as they come and go, boats passing by the sea, wait for the sunset to fall, feel the moments, appreciate the surrounding beauty, and of course, play with my camera.
As I keep myself active, I let my body and soul recharge. So I cherish every weekend as I can renew my energy and refresh my spirit after a long week of grinding. It always excites me to bid farewell to the workweek because that only means, there'll be more adventures ahead of my weekend. Life is too beautiful to just let it be isolated in the four corners of your room, so step out, create beautiful moments, and enjoy! That is what the weekend should be like ☺️.
Thanks for your time.
