A Cliché Childhood - Weekend-Engagement 237

Hi, people. How are you doing?
How are you preparing for Christmas?
I have to say, this will be a different Christmas for me, since I'll spend it away from my mom. However, this is a new experience that I have to take from a positive point of view.

Let's go to the main reason for this post. Childhood.

When I got to think about my childhood, there were a lot of things that I liked; for instance; my aunt used to take us to the beach and we had a lot of fun. I also liked to go to my grandma's and spent time with her. Right now, it's not something I do often.

The things I didn't like as a kid were all the responsibilities I had. Since my mom had to work, it was my duty to keep the house clean and take care of my sisters. We were never too close, so when it came to play with them, I often felt out of place. I also didn't like having knowledge of the adults' problems. Seeing my mom and dad not getting and seeing my dad not caring about us because of drugs and alcohol was very disturbing.

However, I'm grateful because I became a decent person, and I didn't take those experiences as an excuse to do bad things. On the contrary, I'm always willing to help, even if the people I help stabs me on my back.

Hope all of you spent a beautiful Christmas.

I like how your past has positively effected you and your present. That's a credit to you.

Thank you. I know people whom uses their childhood as an excuse to do bad things.

It sounds like you had quite a few beautiful experiences, and also some very hard ones. Having a parent that has fallen into addiction can have some huge adverse effects on us... I'm glad to hear that you decided to take that experience and use it as fuel to do good things in your adult life- that's a massive accomplishment!

Thanks. When I have to think about my past, it's very hard because the bad things I had to go through as a kid are things no one had to live. I'm glad to be who I am today.
