MY WEEKEND EXPERIENCE.

in Weekend Experiences2 months ago

What a wonderful weekend I have had! Like I often do, I began my Saturday morning with the attending of church sanitation. I have always been at ease with the feeling of the sanctuary always being tidy and neat before service starts. Well performed activities in the morning and I went back home with a purpose, that of completing the pap. There is a knack for making that pap perfect in everything, and after a careful wash, I managed to get it silky smooth, clean and ready for consumption. It was a minor achievement, but nonetheless quite gratifying!

But no weekend of mine is complete without a bit of music. A little nap later, I rushed for choir rehearsal. There is something about singing that always cheers me up, however it becomes much better to indulge into it while surrounded by the same obsessed musicians as yourself. We controlled various sections of our pieces, balanced out with harmonies, adjusted the microphones and our movements in time to the music until we felt ready for the service the following day. When it was time for the rehearsal to wrap up, I was all pumped up and satisfied with my accomplishments and ready for some relaxation. But the day wasn’t over yet.

After reaching home I indulged in one of my favorite weekend activities; the Premier League match wherein Bournemouth locked horns with Chelsea, my favorite club. It was one match I was looking forward to with growing eagerness! But it was not enjoying as I expected at the beginning of the game rather my glee turned into anger. Bournemouth was giving it attack after attack and they had virtually contained our crown jewel, Cole Palmer. The strain was painful to even have a look at, since it appeared that Chelsea was in a practice game, a walk through of sorts. At one stage, I was so dejected that I almost switched the TV off, thinking perhaps today is not our ‘lucky’ day. Then again, a voice inside taunted me that no do not turn it off, just watch for a bit more.

And then like a bolt out of the blue, the moment that every single one of us had been waiting for arrived - Nkunku came on as a substitute. The change was instant within the stadium. He arrived with a rush of wind in him that uplifted the whole squad. It was the very energy that Chelsea lacked in the previous matches and the order was restored before long. Chelsea had earned a hard-fought win by the end of the match; instead of the sounds of displeasure, I jumped off my seat in celebration! The indescribable feeling I had of watching my team winning without being perceived as the favorites was out of this world. That was one of those days that reminded me why I had loved the game in the first place. All thanks to Jordan Sancho too who made the gave have another shape that evening when he came on as a substitute too.

The following day, it was like a new me had awakened, one who was ready to explore the celebrations which were slowly coming to an end. Church was a place where I went once more, but this time it was all about dancing. There was a child dedication and the praise and worship service was joyous. I am one of the worshippers and since I love dancing, I went all out praising through dance because I felt in great harmony with the music and the ambience. As the head of the media crew, I was keen to take all the necessary pictures of all these beautiful moments like the family guests event where everyone was in fancy dresses and smiling gaily. And, of course, no one can miss the great part of the holidays – the food! Pictures of heaped servings of rice dance in our heads. We all had quite enough to eat. It was a day of belonging, thanksgiving, and celebration. There was such warmth in my heart as though I was surrounded with family.

When I finally got round to relaxing at home, I had the urge to prepare my goal seeking self for a new challenge and so I thought it wise to try to prepare a dish from the Yoruba people that I had never tried-Amala. It was a good dish that I understood deserved a final test. It is, however, very important to say that the pain was absolutely worth it. The Amala was quite sweet, very rich, moist and tasty and I enjoyed it to the last morsel. It was like a mini-realistic adventure for me inside the kitchen and I could say that I was extremely happy with the results.

In due course of the night, as I was preparing myself to settle in and finally get some well-earned sleep, there was rather an unusual knock on the door. Opening, I saw my friend with a gamepad, inviting me for a duel of some sort. I looked at him and laughed because I quickly understood what he wanted. So we engaged in intense battle of video games. We kept on playing game after game, and to cut the story short, I made him work for it. As the last game ended, he walked away in embarrassed silence, to my amusement, I couldn’t help but smile to myself.

Still celebrating the victory, I settled myself in bed, pondering how great the weekend was indeed. Be it when I went out to church, watched football, had choir practice, tried my hands at some cooking, or even played a few games – everything within the weekend was purely enjoyable for me. As my eyes were shutting in rest, I began to feel a deep satisfaction. Yes, what has been a weekend, I must say!
