The large number of places to visit full of nature and culture in Spain.: WEEK 213

in Weekend Experiences6 months ago

Hi,

I am Spanish and in love with my country for its natural beauty, starting with the north, where the coast is green, with lots of vegetation and beautiful places very little crowded that are a place of rest without equal.

Also in the north, the mountains stand out, as in the Picos de Europa, with some lakes where you can enjoy the idyllic landscapes.

In the north of Spain, Bilbao is also one of the most important cities in Spain. The Guggenheim Museum is a highlight, with millions of visitors a year.

But the most beautiful place in the Basque Country is not Bilbao, but San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.

I suspect that for many of you this rock reminds you of something. Especially if you have seen Game of Thrones. Because in the series, it is Dragon Rock.

If we travel east we will find the Mediterranean coast. With a climate that is generally drier and with beaches of fine sand and warm, crystal-clear water. With lots of nightlife and partying in places like Benidorm and Salou.

The south of Spain is spectacular, where for centuries Muslims, Jews and Christians lived, providing a lot of spectacular places like in Granda with its wonderful Alhambra.

But Andalusia in the south is very extensive and the cities of Cordoba and Seville are really spectacular to visit and understand the passage of centuries from the Muslim and Christian cultures in the south of Europe.

The central area of Spain is not only Madrid, which is its capital, but we can also enjoy places that many of you know from the adventures of Don Quixote de la Mancha, such as the fields with windmills.

In the central area above Madrid on the way north it is easy to come across spectacular castles from the Templar period, such as in Ponferrada.

And not far from there you can enjoy the largest open-pit gold mines from the Roman period. Nowadays they offer us one of those landscapes that for me are the most beautiful.

In the northwest we find Galicia, a little known autonomous community, but which holds a lot of history in its small towns such as the great Roman wall of Lugo, fully preserved in its integrity despite the passing of the centuries.

But Galicia is undoubtedly the end of the Camino. This Jacobean route that many pilgrims take and that passes in front of my house.

With the aim of reaching Santiago de Compostela, where the Apostle St. James is buried.

And finally, Spain has some marvellous islands in the Atlantic Ocean, where you can find the roof of Spain, the Teide.

On these islands you can enjoy the best climate in Spain all year round. With temperatures around 25 degrees almost all year round, with beaches of volcanic rock and a delicious gastronomy.

Best regards.
