Hi,
Nowadays in Spain and in many parts of the world a very controversial issue is the hunting of wild animals.
In this particular case I am not going to talk about exotic or endangered animals, which I believe we should protect. Rather, I am referring to the hunting of wild animals that destroy large amounts of pastures or corn plantations.
I have many rancher friends who, with the sweat of their brow, try to get ahead with their livestock exploitation and for that they need to have an optimum yield of their corn fields.
Every year they are seriously damaged by wild boars. They destroy many plantations both at the time of sowing and at the peak of the season when the corn has its ears for harvest.
Therefore, I am a strong advocate of hunting wild boars in the fall and winter months to limit their population and thereby reduce the harmful effects they have against the economy of farmers.
I like to go and watch my friends hunt wild boars in the nearby woods. It pleases me to see how with their expertise they follow the trails through the undergrowth of the forest and the whistling of the bullets when they leave at high speed to hit one of these animals that invade the forests of northern Spain and in particular Asturias.
For those who may think that it is a murder for fun I want to tell them that apart from the fun that can have to get together with friends, these wild boars are then taken to the slaughterhouse to be analyzed their meat to know that they are fit for human consumption.
In the case of being fit for human consumption, many weekends we meet in one of the restaurants in the area where they prepare roasted wild boar dishes that we have previously taken to them to be prepared for us.
Greetings.
