When the Gladiator 2 trailer came out people bashed it on YoUTube with a lot of dislikes and hateful comments coming in and the reason was the bad music not comparable to the first Gladiator movie.
Seeing from the above quotes this movie is epic in every way possible, from the direction to the gladiator fight scenes, the acting and the simple plot line of revenge.
We see this movie through the eyes of Maximus played brilliantly by Russel Crowe as the commander for the Roman army and in the first scene see him on the battlefield vs barbarians.
The king of Rome is about to die and he decides to make Maximum his rightful heir so his son Commodus who is the ultimate villain, played superbly by Joaquin Phoenix decides to end the life of the king and automatically becomes the king. But Commodus thirst is not yet completed in anger of why his father not choose him as the king so he sends out Roman soldiers to end the life of Maximus and his family and declare him as a traitor to Rome.
Maximus survives this assassination attempt and kills the Roman soldiers sent after him but ends up being a slave to Rome. Maximus is chosen to be a gladiator in the mean while Maximus family is murdered and he finds out about this so he plots to take revenge from Commodus.
The only way Maximus can take his revenge from Commodus is to play in the Gladiator games and win every fight for a chance to face Commodus in the fighting arena somehow.
We see Maximus fight off various powerful enemies in the gladiator battles and sometimes even vicious animals as well, which are all very breathtaking to see.
The story is so simple which makes it so effective and the revenge arc of Maximus is brilliantly captured. The music is still memorable and has not aged till this day for this movie. I would give this movie a 10 out of 10 and would recommend you all to watch it as Sir Ridley Scott delivers one of his best works in his entire career, cause this movie even beats his previous masterpiece Blade Runner as well somehow.
