Seems like Hive has dropped down to Steem price levels for what I guess is the first time in a while, if ever. I don't remember seeing it this bad, anyway.
I had a casual look on there and dear god.
It's the usual flood of Korean and Chinese but I couldn't help notice Trafalgar's immensely lucrative spam campaign:
It's insane! Makes me wonder why I haven't continued on there.
What I presume is just automatically generated via a bot connected to ChatGPT, is earning $500 every single day with zero interaction.
Each post is a very formulaic setup of a few bullet points just talking bullshit in Chinese about, say, the invention of the computer mouse, or particularly large insects, or 'notable mathematicians'.
For what can only be a total of 0 seconds of effort every day, this guy is accumulating unfathomable wealth - $150,000-$200,000 a year.
Nobody reads it, nobody cares, and yet he is earning substantially more than great writers and minds on Substack such as Stephen Fry or Ted Gioia.
Hell, even here on Hive he's extracting 400 Hive/day passively, seemingly not having logged on at all in the last 4 years. Wild.
I suppose it's no different to my posts in terms of a lack of interaction, but I'm suckered into actually writing things myself like a loser - and get an absolute tiny fraction of those rewards in return for my trouble.
Don't get me wrong, my rewards are generally pretty damn gratifying, if nothing else but as a symbol that people trust I'm legit enough to vote for with a degree of consistency. But it would be nice if I could just dump a bunch of money here and vote myself into a mansion in under a year without the briefest of moments of effort.
Jeeze.
