Hello Hive Community! Today's topic in #mayinleo is "Genders as advantage or disadvantage". We live in a patriarchal society and it cannot be denied that males have an advantage. Women all over the world experience gender inequality in cases like economic opportunities, access to education and in some extreme cases, equal rights.
Even in developed countries, men have more career opportunities and earn more money. Data from OECD shows that men are employed more than women and paid more.
I work for an international company that prides itself on gender equality and yet our workforce per company data is still predominantly male. Similarly the board of directors and officers are composed of mostly of men. In our company history, there were no female CEO and CFO.
In other countries, the advantages of men are not just on job opportunities. Women has less rights in nations like Sudan, Afghanistan and Iran to name a few. No access to education, forced marriage, child marriage are still practiced in some countries.
Not only on social issues, physiologically, men are stronger than women. Thus in sports, men perform better and are paid higher in professional leagues.
Recently, there were biological males who were allowed to compete in women's sports and they dominated the competition. While preparing to write this, I searched the net on similar topics and I was a bit surprised that there were some who claim that men are not stronger the women. I find these claims in denial since we can see how biological males dominate women in sports.
Whether it's society or physiology, the advantage of male cannot be denied. However, I wish in the future for gender equality if only for our children who may face similar issues.
