Growing up, my family made a big deal about Christmas. Having my own family and having let go of that tradition and joining in with different practices, we find it's a huge relief. A world holiday centered around buying and selling reciprocation takes away from any significant meaning or observance. The most precious part about this time is not the gift-giving or parties or decorations... it's time together with family. But if there's discord within families, even that can be stressful.
