I am not one who likes to talk religion or draw through ethnic or cultural lines because I believe we all have different believes, thoughts, doctrines, and lifestyle but then I was discussing with a person some days back and she mentioned that the Bible talked about modesty and living a simple life. The way she designed her entire statement, it is like having money is a communist thing and a very evil act as such. I was calm to understand where she was coming from, and wanted to be able to give her answers.
Hypothetically speaking, Jewish people have been known to understand the basics of money. They know how to keep money and how to grow money, little wonder they hold positions in the billionaire lists a lot. What they do is follow commands from the Torah, which the Christians would (sometime) refer to as the bible.
According to the Bible, God puts a man in a garden and asks him to work it and take care of it. From the beginning of creation according to the bible, work has been a major source to earning a living. Work has been since the beginning of creation and it has ever since been the source of wealth for every human. This doesn't mean you should slave away, it didn't say job it said work just so you understand.
A lot of people has attributed wealth to being bad but according to the bible, it is God that gives the power to make wealth. This begins to give me the chills when I hear people display their insecurity and reflect their inability to achieve something on others saying they got it the bad way because they are unable to get such result. In plain simple words, God gives wealth and the ability is given to everyone who knows how to play the wealth game.
The bible mentions being the best at what you do, because that is when you get thee most at it. The best reward comes from the best activity and abilities. With that putting in the bare minimum to get the bare minimum result doesn't mean those who put in their best aren't from God. The reality is that you need to put in your best and be the best at what ever you do so you can get the best result from it.
When you see people emphasizing on the act of discipline when it comes to budget, you can then begin to think they are saying this because they want to sell a course to you but this is true about it even in the bible, where it talks about precious treasure and oil in the home of the wise while he fool swallow it all. The fool will devour everything they produce while those who are financially intelligent would save up precious treasures and oil. Remember that in the days of the bible, there were no paper (fiat) cash.
The bible also says going to debt is dangerous where it mention that the borrower is a slave to the lender. If you are going into debt, then make sure it is a debt that is not adjustable, and not a bad debt. Debt can be used as tool if used properly and while you still owe the debt, you are a slave to the lender so it is important to use it judiciously.
On the case of investment, the bible emphasized on investing for growth. While the bible talks about saving, it emphasizes on investment. The bible mentioned active investment and the bible discussed caution when investing that one should take caution before investing instead of rushing to put money everywhere with the hope that it goes up in the future.
