Like you, I watched it and thought it was good. What I felt it missed was the "shock" value of the first series, which was unlike anything we'd seen before. I also wished they'd focused more on the games rather than the off-island bits, but that's just a preference on my part.

Did you watch the game show they made of Squid Game ? Obviously they couldn't actually kill real life contestants, but they did a good job of keeping the tension high, and they found good ways to design really tough games (in some cases, as in... Ninja Warrior difficult). It was surprisingly watchable.
